Back when I had just graduated university, I read a book called Diet For a Small Planet, by Frances Moore Lappe. I found that book because I was interested in learning about health topics, but by the time I finished it I had decided to go vegetarian. I didn’t realize it would teach me about animal treatment and the environmental impact of the meat industry.
Fast forward over several years and I found myself once again researching the animal agriculture industry, only this time I learned not only about the meat industry but dairy and egg industries (and clothing, etc.) as well. So in February 2006, I made the decision to go vegan. I have been vegan for 11 years as of 2017, and it is still one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I noticed over time that blogs and other resources devoted to veganism were heavily concentrated on the ethics (which is great, don’t get me wrong!) or were all about food. Far fewer, however, were all about helping people live a great lifestyle, a beautiful, healthy, stylish, world traveler lifestyle while being vegan. Now, anyone who knows me can tell you how much I love a good shopping trip, or a great meal, or a trip to Europe–although it’s been a while since I’ve been overseas. I also love animals and have a deep connection to the natural world around us. I hope to share my love of animals and of living healthfully with you, while helping you to also live a beautiful and stylish life… without harming animals.
